LIBRARY BOOKS: This year, students must return all Wyngate library books to the Media Center by Monday, May 21. The Media Center is changing the software for book checkout. The staff must do an inventory of the books before the software can be changed.
WET WEATHER GEAR: We go outside for exercise break almost every day. Please wear socks to school. Sometimes, your shoes will be muddy or wet after break or recess. You cannot take off your shoes unless you are wearing socks.
PIRATES OF PENZANCE: Our third and final play will be Pirates of Penzance adapted from the operetta by Gilbert and Sullivan. We will continue reheasing this week. Students will work with Ms. Wasserstrom on the music. We will perform this play on the last full day of school Monday, June 11 at 1:15 p.m. in the Music Room. Parents will be invited to attend. After the play, we will have a cast party.
CHORUS CONCERT: The chorus will perform for the school on Wednesday, May 16. There will be an evening performance for family members of the chorus students on Wednesday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the All Purpose Room.
SPRING FAIR: The P.T.A.'s Spring Fair is scheduled for Saturday, May 20. Come and enjoy lots of games and fun.
MEMORIAL DAY: Monday, May 28 is a school holiday in honor of Memorial Day.
POETRY TEA: Our Poetry Tea will be on Friday, June 1 at 9:15 a.m. in the portable. You will recite some of the poems from your poetry book. Parents will be invited to attend.
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC CONCERT: The instrumental music students will perform for the school on Monday, June 4. There will be an evening performance for family members of instrumental music students on Tuesday, June 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the All Purpose Room.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: The last day of school for students is Tuesday, June 12. This is a half-day with dismissal at 12:35 p.m.
Poetry During the month of May, you will recite your nineth and final poem. You will choose one of your own poems that you have written for your poetry book.
Set up your paper in the proper fourth-grade manner. This has been shown in class. On your paper, explain which elements of poetry you used, e.g., rhyme, simile, metaphor, personification, alliteration, onomatopoeia, repetition, or refrain. GIVE EXAMPLES. Be prepared to explain the elements of poetry in your poem to the class. Remember that your poem must be at least eight lines long.
The first group (Cryus, Sophia S., Gia, Abby, Ava, and Trey) will recite their poems on Tuesday, May 22.
The second group (Eric, Ryan, Caroline, Bridget, Kris, Maya, and Sara ) will recite their poems on Wednesday, May 23.
The third group (Sophie Di., Sophia Do., Alec, Sydney, Mikail, and Sam) will recite their poems on Thursday, May 24.
The fourth group (Daniel, David, Kate, Isabelle, Neda, Aidyn, Lucas, and Raul) will recite their poems on Thursday, May 24.
